Deerfield Beach Building Department

The City of Deerfield Beach encompasses 16.3 sq. miles in Broward County, FL and is home to 75,000 residents. The City maintained an in-house building department until levels of service and budget constraints became a concern to City Officials, Residents, and Staff. When the City requested proposals CGA was the successful respondent and was awarded the contract in June 2015. Due to Union notifications restraints, CGA was directed to mobilize the day after the Commission’s approval vote. Although one days’ notice was not ideal for preparation and setup, CGA rose to the task and completed the successful turn-over to contract services. In a matter of just a month, we began receiving accommodation letters from City residents and local contractors.

Since June 2015, CGA has acted as the City’s total turn-key building code services provider including permit application and fee intake. CGA’s ability to fluctuate staffing levels to match the workload has resulted in a positive solution for the City of Deerfield Beach.

Estero

The recently incorporated Village of Estero encompasses 20 sq. miles in Lee County which is on the southwest coast of Florida, and is home to nearly  35,000 residents. When the Village decided to incorporate and establish its own government separate from the County, they published an RFP for Building Code and other municipal services. In an unanimous vote, the Village Council awarded CGA the Comprehensive Building Code, Planning, Code Compliance, and IT services.

Beginning in the fourth quarter of 2015, CGA has acted as the Village’s total turn-key building code services provider including permit application and fee intake. The entire process has been automated by CGA’s internal software, which allows citizens and contractors to access information via the web including, permit status, schedule inspections and even make secure payments. This automated system along with CGA’s ability to fluctuate staffing levels to match the workload, has resulted in a positive solution for the Village of Estero.

Lighthouse Point

The City of Lighthouse Point, located in Broward County, Florida, is a waterfront community with an approximate area of 2.36 sq. miles and a population of nearly 10,500.  In October 2017, CGA was awarded the contract to provide Building Plan Reviews and Inspection Services to the City of Lighthouse Point.  CGA’s scope of work includes all inspections and plan reviews for Building Department and administrative duties for Building Official, including:

  • Review construction plans for issuance of building permits under the Florida Building Code
  • Plan review and inspection services include but are not limited to, structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical/HVAC
  • Review plans for compliance with National, State, City, and Building Code requirements
  • Inspect permitted construction, within City limits, for compliance with City codes and permitted plans and specifications
  • Create records of inspections and investigations
  • Contact and meet with City officials, contractors, architects, engineers, business owners, and residents about construction projects, code questions, and other concerns
  • Provide services  concerning Unsafe Buildings and the Broward County Unsafe Structures Board; and
  • Emergency response when requested by City Officials during duty and after duty hours.

General administrative and permit processing will still be done by Lighthouse Point employees.  Our commitment to providing “exceptional solutions” has allowed us to develop into the premier leader in government and community services. Our dedication has been rewarded with contracts from communities across Florida.

Pembroke Pines Building Department

The City of Pembroke Pines is the second-largest city in Broward County and at one point was the fastest growing city in the nation. Pembroke Pines maintained a large building and zoning department to accommodate the robust activity. Unfortunately, as economic conditions slowed, the City was forced to evaluate options to cut costs and provide building department services, which could more efficiently adjust to the changes in building activity. The City decided to contract with a private service provider. In June 2009 the Pembroke Pines City Commissioners voted to approve a five-year contract with CGA to administrate the City’s Building Department services.

Since 2009, CGA has acted as the City’s total turn-key building code services provider including permit application and fee intake. The entire process has been automated by CGA’s  internal software, which  allows citizens and contractors to access information via the web including, permit status, schedule inspections and even make secure payments. This automated system along with CGA’s ability to fluctuate staffing levels to match the workload has resulted in a positive solution for the City of Pembroke Pines.
