Projects Pine Island Park Improvements
In 2017, Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) embarked on an exciting journey with the City of Plantation, bringing to life the vision of transforming Pine Island Park. As part of the City’s Parks Bond program, CGA was entrusted with the task of completely reconstructing this 24-acre soccer haven, blending expert planning, innovative design, and precise construction services.
This project aimed not just to renovate but to revolutionize the park experience. Our major objectives included elevating the functionality of the soccer fields through enhanced drainage and playability, creating inviting spaces with new walkways, shaded seating, and a welcoming main entrance courtyard, all while ensuring top-notch ADA accessibility.
The park’s metamorphosis features the expansion and overhaul of a city-owned parking lot, the construction of two state-of-the-art Parks & Recreation buildings, and the meticulous regrading of the site to house six lush natural grass soccer fields, a premier synthetic turf field, and a specialized goalie practice area. These improvements are complemented by extensive enhancements in sidewalk infrastructure, lighting, and drainage systems.
The park’s charm is further amplified by unique design elements like elegant brick columns and an archedentryway, creating a picturesque welcome for visitors. Additionally, the park is equipped to host vibrantcommunity events, with provisions for a mobile stage that can be easily integrated into the space. CGA’scomprehensive services, including surveying, site planning, civil and electrical engineering, landscapedesign, irrigation design, perming, and construction administration, culminated in the park’s grandcompletion in June 2022.
